I had the opportunity to combine my passion for photography with my research interests in 2023. My photo “Curricular Whiteout” was a finalist for the University of Illinois Graduate College’s Image of Research contest. My submission depicts a censored copy of Art Spiegelman’s Maus back by a quote from a school board member from McMinn County, Tennessee, who voiced the opinion that the book could be acceptable for student use if it were censored.
